Steps
Get serious about quitting. Perform the steps in the Freedom Checklist.
Ask for help - get an accountability mentor and have them check your progress in the above checklist. We have an accountability group that meets every Tuesday at 6:00pm. For information on the accountability group, contact us at info@ccftmen.com
If you are not able to install a filter, you can use the following service, which will not block any addresses, but will send a detailed report to an accountability mentor (of your choice): www.covenanteyes.com
Daily "re-program" your mind. Pray and ask God to give you the strength to have a day free from pornography.
Consider what it means to "know God" and to use God's strength to break this addiction.
Some find help through the 60 day study at www.settingcaptivesfree.com
Get support from others. Be involved with our accountability group. Freedom is a lifestyle change with an ongoing relationship with God (it is not just an event).
Read the book Every Man's Battle. Tackle the serious problem head-on! This unique book offers a practical battle plan for men, married or single, who desire to live by God's standard.
Prepare in advance for temptation so you are not an easy target for this addiction. Put on the full armor of God!
Realize you're not perfect; don't beat yourself up if you fail. But don't use this as a license to binge. Focus on one day at a time
If you fail, it's because you are drinking from the sewer instead of drinking the living water from "God's well"
This addiction thrives in secrecy. You won't make it alone. You need to develop humility and be open to asking for help when struggling - so you can have the support of others.
Using your own strength will end in failure. You need the help of others, and God.
Feed yourself spiritually each day! Keep a journal of your progress (what works and what doesn't work).
Maintain a healthy spiritual life. Build Self Control as described in Scripture. Go deeper in the principles in the above steps.
We are weak, and can prove it time and time again. We will continually give in to the flesh - but Jesus is strong and we can place our problems in His hands.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
